Aurora Aksnes was born on 15 June 1996 in Stavanger Norway. The name she is most commonly used for her professional work is Aurora and often stylized with uppercase letters in the form of AURORA. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves by Decca Records was released on May 15th of 2015 and received great reviews from music blogs and the media. The singer has released a number of high-profile cover songs, including Half the World Away (by the band Oasis) to accompany John Lewis' Christmas advert as well as Nature Boy (by Nat King Cole), which were widely appreciated. Aurora Aksnes' earliest memory of music was discovering an old grand piano hidden in the attic. She was fascinated by what it could do. Jan Oystein Aksnes and May-Britt Aksnes encouraged her to learn music, not for an income or as a pastime, but as an opportunity to improve. She began to write her own compositions. Her influences include renowned writer Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan in addition to her love of Bjork's style. She began performing her songs publicly when her mother suggested that they could help people not to gain fame with her work but to make people see around them realize their importance and the ways they could impact the world. The mother of her child suggested that she sing her songs in public to help people realize their importance and the ways they can affect the world. This was not known to her family until she turned fourteen. The dream was never to be Aurora. She claims that she enjoys composing music. According to her, the songs she creates are how she feels about anything.
